Another cold day

3.11

It was a cold day with occasional snow. But once the sun shone, the world was full of bright light.

A Japanese flag was flown at half-mast at the gate of a nearby junior high school. Four years already have past since the devastating earthquake.

Cold wind and small quantity of snow

Today’s weather was exactly what the title says. The snowfall was so slight it couldn’t even be photographed when it was falling. However, in the evening, one corner of our garden was looked this.

World you should belong to

3.9

Here is a quotation from Ms. Yukari Ishii’s (in Japanese) comment from the astrological point of view for the Geminis for the week starting on March 9, which roughly goes:

Beginning to transmute,

Swaying,

A number of things starting simultaneously,

Changing the orbit,

Sharing out what you have collected,

Activities you only can accomplish are going to get underway brilliantly from now on.

Unlike the comments from previous and two weeks ago, I now only wish it will come true.

Sumo wrestlers’ basic training

3.8

As I am afraid that these days I have been lacking of exercise quite terribly, I tried to copy the basic training of sumo wrestlers called “shiko”, only to find it too difficult for me. However, I got perfectly aware it was a very good exercise.

The photo shows my work of a passage from a song sung at sumo events.

The spring sumo tournament in Osaka begins today.

I love taking calligraphy lessons!

3.7

When Yushokai had regular lessons, I provided all the necessary utensils, including even paper for the students. I was well aware that some people considered it lack of confidence as a teacher on my part or just excessive service. However, that idea is absolutely wrong, for it is because I was in the higher position, I wasn’t willing to put any burden on my students…Actually, to tell the truth, I just wished Yushokai would casually welcome travelers from abroad who happened to do sightseeing in Kyoto or Nara, if only it suited their itineraries.

However, I was really pleased to know that my way of thinking mentioned above, that is, preparing everything for students and avoiding putting any trouble on them was authentically right, after learning it was a traditional custom for teachers to prepare everything needed in calligraphy lessons.

“Ravage and regeneration” is said to be the word. Moreover, it will even be more beneficial if you let go what you have kept on firmly clutching, I heard. As I have repeatedly written here, I am helpless when it comes to discarding something.

World you should belong to

3.5

Here is a quotation from Ms. Yukari Ishii’s (in Japanese) comment from the astrological point of view for the Geminis for the week starting on March 2, which roughly goes:

This week, you may accomplish a remarkable outcome by believing the benefit of protecting something and being protected by something.

This is a terminus and quem, if you will, for which you have been seeking with a single mind for sometime rather than what you have just started.

This is a “quite familiar world for you that you should belong to”, rather than a totally unknown place.

Just as the previous week, it hits my reality. I wonder if she knew about my present surroundings.

Happy birthday!

3.4

Today is my late father’s birthday, and I casually checked what the birth flower for the day was. I found it was Japanese andromeda and moreover, it was a toxic plant, which made me laugh a little.

I am also aware that there are so many theories about the birth flowers, though.

The photo shows my work of the plant’s floral language; sacrifice, dedication, pure and innocent heart and an offer for a journey together.

Original form of hina dolls

I visited the nearby shrine to see the event of nagashi-bina (in Japanese), or floating hina dolls down a river. It is believed to be the origin of the Doll Festival whose object is to wish for sound growth of young girls. The dolls in the photos aren’t floating anymore, though.

They never think of their fate/

Budding season

3.2 3,2

The phrase is supposed to describe this season, early spring. For it means trees and grasses begin budding

It is also true with people. You maybe heading for a new land, a new job. Even a new fellowship, hopefully.
