派手が好き　Lots of red

TVで春節のニュースを観ると、中国の人たちは本当に赤色が好きなのだなと思います。派手でいいですね。沈んだ色を見ていても気分は晴れません。

Tomorrow is January 1st in the old calendar.　We see lots of “red” in many news shows on TV about how the Chinese people celebrate their new year holidays, which makes me realize once again that they do love this color.　And I do, too, since subdued colors won’t create a radiant mood.

色とりどりの夢をよくみますので。綺麗な色とりどりの折り紙が飛び出すような飛び出す絵本をもらったり、とか。ちょっと疲れているかも知れません。

写真は昨年ボビーキーズさんの訃報を聞いて、書いた私自身の何作目かの歌です。

実は、書き初めとして書いたものですが、石井ゆかりさんの新刊本を買ったとき、着いていた言葉、というか・・・彼女の一言が欲しくて、新刊を買いました。新刊本を開けてみて、初めはちょっとビビりましたが、今年はこのように頑張ろうと思い直しました。

“Exerting influence”

Is the phrase I chose for my kakizome for the year 2015.

It is a phrase by Ms. Yukari Ishii (in Japanese) written on a small piece of paper attached to her new book….To be honest, I bought the book only because I wanted to get that little piece of paper with her words.　When first I opened the book, I wimped out a bit because of its overdramatic ring, however, I had second thought about it and determined to give it my all as this phrase suggests.

高校時代からの旧い知り合いを通じて知り合った若い宗教学研究者が、湧書会第一回展に出品した般若心経やサンスクリット文字を題材にした作品を気に入ってくださいましたので、彼とその奥さまに、クッションカバーに彼らの干支の守り本尊の梵字などを書いて、プレゼントしようと思います。

彼らを紹介してくれた旧い友人と、私の書に興味を持ってくれた若いご夫婦に感謝です。

A young religion scholar who I met through one of my old friend from high school days got interested in my works on the Heart Sutra and Sanskrit characters exhibited in the first exhibition of Yushokai (in Japanese).　I wrote Sanskrit characters that symbolize the guardian gods from Chinese Zodiac signs for him and his wife and send them as humble gifts.

I am really thankful to the couple for their interest in my calligraphy and also to my old friend who introduced the young researcher to me.

朝とても寒くて、こんな風に雪も舞っていました。すぐに溶けるだろうとは予想出来ており、まさにその通りでした。

普段、ロックミュージックしか聞きませんが、ときに、湧書会に心強い言葉をくれた方を思い、その方のお好きなフルートを思い、YouTubeでフルート演奏を検索したりします。

It was very cold this morning and as the photograph shows light, powdery snow was falling, which looked it will disappear soon and actually it did.

Although I usually listen to only rock music, from time to time, remembering a precious, important friend who gave me an encouraging word about my Yushokai activity and who loves playing the flute, I search for “flute performance” on YouTube.

子供の頃に通っていた懐かしいお部屋でのお稽古を再開していただけることとなりました。

水星逆行最後のプレゼント。私ももう若くはありませんし、この機会に全力で頑張りたいと思います。

I am very happy to have a chance to attend calligraphy practice sessions held in the old room of my teacher’s house where I used to practice so many times as a child.

I guess this is the last present from the Mercury retrograde this time.　As I am not young any more, I am determined to make the most of this heaven-sent opportunity in order to improve my ability with utmost effort.
